4 Things You Don't Know About the Death of John the Baptist | Jewish Context Revealed
Просмотров 32 тыс.21 день назад
We’re kicking off Season 4 of The Chosen with some historical drama! Sam and Dr. Tom talk about the complexity of what led to the beheading of John the Baptist. As if Herod marrying his brother’s wife wasn’t scandalous enough, the guys cringe over Salome’s scandalous dance for her step-father, and talk about how Herod’s divorce from his first wife started a war. With background from Josephus th...

There are a lot of reactions to The Chosen, there are few that can introduce you to the story and complement it. But you became necessary to me after every episode! The way and happiness with which you speak about the scriptures and Judaism is special. I'm from Croatia, I don't speak English very well, but I understand you perfectly! You are a true blessing to all who are thirsty for the word of God! ❤️🇭🇷

My favourite scene was when Mary brought out the box with the bridle, for Jesus. Nothing was said but the look between Mary and her Son, Jesus was beyond knowing. It brought Joseph back to them so profoundly and there was such love shown without a word spoken.

There are so many moments this season I loved. Gaius telling Peter and Matthew, "I KNOW he can heal my son. Will you let me ask him?" Then as they leave to go see Jesus, he says, "My son is as good as healed." I will NEVER read John 11:35 "Jesus wept." the same again. The image of Jesus collapsing on the ground with the weight of everything that was happening - Lazarus' death, his own impending death and the fact that his disciples still weren't getting it - will always be in my mind. Those 2 words now have so much more meaning.

He didnt heal everyone He came in contact with, when He went to the pool, He only healed the 1 guy (z's brother) but left the rest unhealed (historical accounts there were thousands there needing healing. Plus He had to have passed the gate beautiful not healing the lame guy that is later healed in Acts. the hard part about the Rhema scene is the verse that "He healed all who came to Him" and they did depict Thomas going to Him and asking (not to mention ask and you'll receive). I do agree with you about this setting up why Thomas doubted His resurrection so much.

Here is what I have an opinion on as to why Jesus made the clay. So far I have peace in my spirit on this possibility. The fact is, the man born blind seemed to be in such a bad way that people questioned the sins of himself or his family as the cause. Blindness was not new, nor was it new to Jesus who had already healed some blind eyes. I believe the man was born without eyes as a whole. Not just blind, but incapable of ever seeing because of the lack of eyes. Jesus, through whom all things are created (Colassians 1) made the clay, which we are made out of and actually formed eyes for the man. This is why this miracle was so big in scripture. This is why pharisees couldn't believe he could have done it without demonic help. This was a creative miracle. Putting physical, seeing eyes, where there were none.

The actress that plays young Mary is so cute with the sweetest voice although I know laugh when she says “Jesus” thanks to Dr Tom. Sounds like cheeses. And lastly Johanna and how she has supported Jesus and loves his mission.

I can't help but shake off the feeling that even the Messianics still consider themselves better than others, based on where Jesus chose to incarnate. The initial words of the mister on the right especially rub me the wrong way. "It is OUR story, The story you GET to be enter into." How is a gentile supposed to read this? Are we supposed to feel grateful to a certain tribe, rather to God who created all people, Jew AND Gentile? It feels as if you're half-way away from the Pharisees which outright rebuked the gentiles, but I still sense unearned entitlement. Episodes about Samaria and Decapolis clearly portrays this thinking as incorrect. The plights your people suffered, and the honors they received, do NOT make you better than anyone else. It is not your blood that is Holy, but the covenant God made with Abraham. There's a reason Jesus talked about the Widow at Zarepath and Naaman the Syrian to the Nazarenes, and their violent reaction. Jesus all but calls two gentiles righteous OVER the Jews who kept the Law. They were justified by their faith. Not by their ancestry or special favors. Am I reading your words wrong? I'll be the first to apologize if I am. I hope that's the case. Otherwise, I'd urge you (and all who think like you) to reread Galatians. Paul couldn't have been any more clear about Judaizers and the distinction between Jew and Gentile - or rather, lack there of - under Jesus Christ. I love Him for no one else shall exalt themselves over me, and neither shall I exalt over them. It's His sacrifice, His Grace that matters. We are mere recipients.

The way Judas is portrayed is really scary. Showing him as an ordinary person just like us. Wanting to 'hurry up' the kingdom and trying to do things his own way. We need to pray to stay in God's will. It seems a lot easier to betray Yahshua than we think. Scary!

Come on people, subscribe to these fine gentlemen! My favorite moments continue to to be the writers and actors connecting to us as relatable. Their struggles, their learning, each misunderstanding, moment of clarity, each repentance. That Jesus wept is brief in scripture. How it was portrayed in the show just broke my heart open. Shmuel and Judas not being able to get out of their own headspace and be humble was also sad. Joyful moments are Jesus’s love for all, especially his mother and followers. An aside: You two are hilarious. David and his merry men😂
